Thus baby gate is great! it does not need to be drilled into place. I use velcro straps to install it on my stair railing to keep my grand daughter safe. It is srton and sturdy and I did not have to drill into my expensive wood railing to keep the baby safe.

I bought three of these gates six months ago. They may work well for some, but all of my children (ages 1-3) can get to the other side. It also doesn’t stop the dog from going under and broke when the dog put his paws on top of the gate.Pros:Retractable - gate isn’t swinging into a roomEasy to use - my three year old can open and close it (which I guess may also be a con)Looks nice and haven’t had any issues keeping it clean.Fairly easy to install.Cons:A determined child can go under which defeats the purpose of the gate.A lot of plastic that breaks easily. All of the gates I have purchased have already broke.They all stopped retracting on their own. I can tighten it by hand and use it, but it shouldn’t have stopped working so quickly.Not sure I would use it for stairs because kids can get under or break it trying to go over.I would probably purchase again for the retracting feature, but I don’t think they are a great safety gate. Yes they are a deterrent or at the least slow the escapee, but they have never stopped my children when they were determined.

I love this gate more than any we’ve ever had. We use it for our dogs. We’ve had the short wood ones where we would have to climb over, sometimes knocking it down. Then we bought a tall white metal one that has a gate in the middle, but that posed a problem for our housekeeper trying to get the vacuum and cleaning pails through the gate. This one retracts so that when we don’t need it, it is totally out of the way. And the dogs can still see through it when it is closed. I can’t say enough good things about this gate. I highly recommend it.

Straight forward install, but helps to have 2 people. Seems like nice quality and fits nicely in the doorway. I'm likely to get a couple more for the other rooms. ðŸ‘

We bought this gate about a year ago and just ordered another one (in a different color). It only took a few minutes to install and keeps our toddler from going downstairs. It’s easy to open, close and lock/ unlock - our 5 and 8 year old can maneuver it without help. The cat however, tries very hard to squeeze under it when she doesn’t feel like jumping over. 😂

Instalation was pretty simple and the gate functions correctly. Our small dog can get under the gate even if it is locked however as it just is not taught enough to keep the little guy out.
