We purchased this as a replacement to another baby gate that had fallen into disrepair over the years. This product is very nice. It's sturdy, easy to install, the door stays open due to the spring mechanism in it, it shuts smoothly on its own, and is easy to open and close (by an adult human). We use it to keep our dogs in the laundry room at night, but still allow our cats in and out. The cat door design is much better then the older one which was a swinging cat door. Reason being, our beagle could wiggle through the old door, so we rigged a tie strap solution to shut it just enough to prevent that. This new design allows you to adjust how open the sliding cat door is which is perfect. Cats can do in and out, but our beagle cannot. All in all, we love this new gate.

Works great. Keeps dog upstairs, but allows kitty to go down stairs where his litter box and food is. Gate opens nicely and I can get down stairs without taking gate down or stepping over (and maybe tripping one or two times). Looks nice and not an eye sore!

This gate installed within minutes and functions as intended. It is well made, sturdy, and has more than ample room for our cats to pass easily through. The gate is easy to open and shuts by itself flawlessly. For the money, I feel this is a great product.

I received my gate and believe it had been returned before I received it. The pieces were just loose in the box and there were no instructions. It was also dirty around the button to open the gate. Besides that the gate seems sturdy and my cats and small dogs fit through the door without issues. It keeps my larger dog out with ease. I am updating my review because now the gate is not very good. After a few days of easy use opening it and closing it a few times a day it broke. A small piece broke off under the bottom of the top rotating "hinge". Now the gate will lift off the frame. In order to open the gate you have to push the buttons on the top and lift the gate slightly. Now when you do that there is nothing to stop you from lifting the entire gate off the frame. Then you have to fiddle with the gate to get it back onto the frame. A small plastic piece should not be that holds the entire gate together. Maybe it was because my gate seemed to be one that was returned or maybe it is because they skimped on a very important part

I would give this item a 5 star review, but I can’t even install it due to it missing the necessary hardware to install it. I have since ordered another one and installed it and it is truly a sturdy, well-built gate. I would recommend it.

We just got the gate and were anxious to get it set up. With a new kitten, our dogs have been always trying to get the food. This is the perfect divider between laundry room and rest of the house. It gives the kitten a way to eat in peace, use the litter undisturbed, and will work well for keeping him from darting out the door when the dogs come in and out. Currently, he's so tiny that he can fit between the wall and the gate but I'm confident that he'll get bigger and that won't be an issue forever. So far, it's serving it's purpose. This was also super easy to install, isn't too heavy but feels sturdy. The locking mechanism (gate) is easy to handle (open, close, swing) and gives an open to leave open if wanted.Overall, this product seems to be worth the money spent. Will update if there are changes.

Love this gate. Very attractive, high quality product. Purchased for 2 kittens having their room in peace & quiet to eat, and my dog out of their food and litter box. Assembly not difficult, instructions were okay, but left out how to open the man gate. Gate latches top and bottom. To open gate you press the upper handle, but must pick up on the gate to unlock the lower rod. Not explained in instructions. Other than this, no issues. Happy kitties, unhappy dog.

I bought this gate to keep our puppy away from the stairs. Once assembled, it remained terribly unstable. The screw caps that tighten to the wall seem to loosen over time, and the gate buckles. Then the latch does not connect to its closing mechanism. Glad I'm not using it for a child. Would not buy again.

The improvements made to the newer "upgraded" version are definitely worth every penny. It is really is the best and easiest baby gate I have ever used. I previously purchased the older version of this gate and it was okay (3 stars). I then purchased this "upgraded" version and it is an enormous improvement in terms of how it opens and the space for the cat door!!!! The older version required you to press a single button and lift up forcefully to open the door...but not this new version! Lightly pressing the two buttons in, the door swings open with ease which is important when you are walking through it holding a baby! The two button mechanism ensures that baby/toddler will not be able to open it... at least not for a very long while! The cat door is also a huge improvement. In the previous version the cat door slid upward creating a low narrow opening that my old, arthritic cat just couldn't squeeze through. The one time she did get through she actually became stuck and I had to open the door all the way to let her out! In the new version, the door slides to the side creating a taller narrow shape that is much easier for animals to move through. In both versions the gate, when opened as far as it goes, will stay open and both, when pushed, will swing shut and latch on their own which are very nice features for someone holding a child and only one hand free.

This gate worked perfect and was quick and easy to install. Feels very sturdy. Our 12lb cats can fit without issue and 16lb baby cannot get through. It also came with extra V pegs that fit on a stair baluster.If you're using the extensions I suggest using some painters/masking tape to hold the extension and gate together until assembled as it will make life easier.

Does what it is supposed to do and keeps the dog away from the cat food. Easy to lock in the cat door and the cat got the hang of it quickly. Was a bit tricky to get in as I havent screwed into wall but would purchase again.
