The very first one I installed, I just jammed it behind the knob and pushed it down all the way which caused the knob to pop off and break. I then carefully removed the other knobs, placed the wedges and put the knobs back on. When I went to use the stove, I left them on, primarily because of convenience, but also to see if they in any way stopped the knob. They provided more resistance when turning the knob, but not much else. It’s still easy to accidentally turn the knob and just let the gas start, which is also definitely something you don’t want your child or dog doing. All in all, they add slight resistance to tuning the knob but that’s about it.

Although advertised for use with gas stoves, these protectors slide neatly behind the knobs of our GE electric range, which has accidentally been turned on by us leaning against the stove. Now with the spacers installed, the knobs cannot be pushed in and therefore not turned to an “on†position. Because these spacers are made of heat resistant silicone instead of plastic, they don’t melt in the vicinity of nearby burners in use. They are easy to remove and replace so returning the stove to a safe condition has become habit. I don’t know if I would call them child proof because a determined child could remove them just as easily as an adult. I place them in the category of accident prevention.

I tried a few safety attachments for our stove knobs because we have been removing the knobs for years. Since we remove our knobs every time we are done using the stove they are very easy to pop off. Most of the safety covers I have tried just pop the knob off. These don't. They allow the knob to stay in place while also making it non-functional as intended. They work great and feel pretty sturdy. This is the first one I have tried that I would feel comfortable using. Not sure we will transition to keeping the knobs on yet or not but it was worth the attempt. At least we found a product that actually works as intended.

These are awesome. Really awesome. I've seen a couple knob protective devices before and I've never seen one as cool as this. Others are hard. Or bulky. Or just work in a totally different fashion (like some over-cover) but these just slip BEHIND your knob and make it 'impossible' to push in the knob to start a fire. They are tapered, like a wedge, so you just push it down as far as you are comfortable with to keep the knob far away from the stove. They are also flexible and really easy to put on and take off (as an adult).I didn't TRY to take it off 'like a kid would' but there isn't anything to manipulate from the bottom. But regardless I really think this is fantastic. Hands down my favorite stove knob lock. This review was written for: Stove Knob Safety Covers Baby Proof, Gas Stove Knob Covers for Child Safety, (5Pack)

I don’t have kids but I did get this set so that my CATS don’t accidentally turn on any of the burners, which are located on the front of my stove. They have been known to jump on the stove and hit the knobs. Maybe I’m being overly cautious, but these protectors don’t do any harm being on there, so I’m satisfied with the extra peace of mind. Plus the black blends in with the black stove top, which is nice! In my opinion, these are a lot less of an eye sore than the child proof protectors that completely cover the knobs, so if you’re looking for a set that is functional but not ugly, this is it!

These knob safety locks work to make it more difficult to turn on our gas range, however, it is still possible to turn it on while these are on the knobs. It would be difficult to do so accidentally though, so I think they'll serve their purpose just fine. Since they are silicone, you can squish them in enough to turn the dial and they also spin fairly easily. The hard plastic locks I have are similar, but they do make it even more difficult to turn the stove on than these silicone locks. These are very easy to put on and remove and should prevent just simple bumps and such from turning on a knob. Just don't expect them to stop a determined human from turning on the stove, because they're not all that difficult to remove or squish in to still turn on the knob.

I liked the size of these, particularly that they taper to a smaller thickness. I tried some solid plastic ones that were too thick before and would not work with our knobs. However, these still did not work because they’re too soft a material. I had to cram them so hard under the knob that it would lift the knob off because you could squish them down and still turn the burner on.I fully expected them to work, but unfortunately it was way too easy for them to fail. Even if I was able to strike a balance of tension under the knob with these, I’m pretty sure my son would just pull it off.
