I think self-watering pots have been a game changer for me, and I love that this one shows the water level. It makes it so much easier to keep an eye on. The plastic isn't ideal, but at least it doesn't feel flimsy. It's a good value for a 2-pack. The size is decent; they fit nicely on a shelf and are still long enough to grow a good-sized plant.

These fit my windowsills perfectly and will brighten up my kitchen and breakfast area when the plants grow. Herbs are over the sink within easy reach. Flowers will bloom and add color to the breakfast room. I love them. Will order them for gift too.

It’s not the best quality, but it’s functional and looks good. If you’re on a budget and need a simple pot, this is a solid option.

Since this is a review, I think it's fine to tell you that yes, these are very similar to more expensive products sold for growing plants in leca or pon and I think they're a clean sub-in for those.Nice, understated design. Clean lines. Good thick plastic. It seems there is an option to open up drainage in the bottom pot, but that would ruin the self watering aspect.Nice little floater that will tell you about your water level! Note that it will only make sense if you're growing in a semi-hydro situation. If you're growing in regular potting mix, a water level high enough to float the floater would be sure to kill anything but papyrus. My pro-tip for pots like this is to not fill them too full of your chosen medium. See that ridge in the fourth photo? See if you can leave that exposed enough to get in there with your fingers later. Then you can pull out the inner pot to check on the roots etc. You can also water more easily & quickly without flooding the scene.

These were spot on for a window herb garden. Perfect size for a windowsill or countertop area. Each planter is two pieces to allow for draining from the inner container to be caught by the outter shell instead of your windowsill. I always pass on the double layered planters because they're typically more expensive and I always kick myself later. These aren't more expensive at all and they're very well made. No brainer from my POV. I'm not really ussing the little gravity waterers that they came with, but I imagine they will be nice if I were to go out of town for the weekend or something like that. If nothing else they'd keep things alive for a few days and the planters are designed to where they clip right in which is new for me and makes it at least a little more likely that I'll use them at some point since they're attached to the planters. Just me personally.Overall, these are great buy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anybody looking to do an herb garden indoors (or out for that matter) or they'd also be great for Ivy or even some flowers if that's your thing.

This window box style of planter has an outer container that holds water, and an inner planter box for your soil and plants. The inner box has a couple of sections that protrude into the lower section and allow water to be wicked up. This is the "self watering" aspect. There is a little float that indicates water level in the planter, and so long as you keep that within bounds, the plants hold be watered.I got this to help with starting seedlings for the garden this spring, but in the meantime I have loaded one with some herbs that are living in a greenhouse window in our kitchen. I have to say, this does make maintaining the plants easier- I wouldn't worry being gone for a week or so, as I might without the self watering feature. I think it will work well for seedlings also.

There are a lot of different types of self-watering mechanisms out there and this particular set of planter boxes uses a stand-off method where the inner planter rests entirely within the outer stand/reservoir component. This makes it easy to move the whole thing if needed for easy maintenance/refills while the inner planter also retains the ability to separate from the reservoir when you want to plant/harvest. The inner planter has sturdy support legs and multiple evenly spaced drainage holes to ensure the whole planter gets consistent access to the water and avoids the dreaded root rot scenario. The inner planter has about 4.5 inches of depth for soil compared to 6.5 inches for the outer reservoir, allowing the combination to hold a good amount of water. Installing the water gauge is key, you want to be sure it sits flush with the bottom of the reservoir so it provides an accurate reading. The easiest way to do that is by inserting it into the planter pot, adding the pot to the reservoir, and then pushing down on the top of the gauge so it makes contact with the bottom. The gauge relies on a thin plastic disc at the base of the indicator needle to let you know where you are in the 'optimal' range with the minimum indicating a fractional amount of water and the maximum indicating water up to the bottom of the planter. Dimensionally, the whole unit is perfectly sized to sit on a window sill ledge or narrow shelf and the underside has bracket mount points molded in if you want to do a railing option instead. These are going to get a lot of use in the spring when it's time to do flower starts for my backyard flower racks for sure.
