Latches seem to be of good quality. Only time will tell if spring is actually stainless steel as is exposed to the weather.

They installed easily, looked good and held the compartments open.

Purchased these to replace original plastic clips that were starting to become brittle and break from the sun. I did not use the supplied screws, instead I used stainless steel self tapping screws that I supplied. As to what others have mentioned about not fitting in existing holes from old clips. I prefer them to not fit in same holes. This way I know that these will be tight. Just put sealant in old holes before installing these. The base of these clips covered existing holes so really it wasn’t an issue.

Firs of all, DO NOT expect to put these exactly where your old door catches were. They are smaller than my original clips and the holes did not line up with the old ones. That ended up working as an advantage for me because The original holes in my camper were a bit stripped out. I filled the old holes with caulk, put a small amount of caulk on the back of these clips and installed them within just a few minutes. The only other piece of advice that I can offer is to make sure before screwing the new clips in place, make sure that they will hold the door open. These are shorter than most originals so you may need to put them closer to the door that you might expect.

So Four Winns puts out some crazy companionway/cabin doors in their boats. The acrylic door actually cracked and broke on my 1997 Four Winns Vista 278 because of the poor factory designed catch system. After having the door recreated (obsolete), I had to figure out a new way to secure the door OPEN while underway, and not have it bang around and break again. Enter JR Products 10245 baggage door catch. Installed in 5 minutes, seems very well made and sturdy. It holds the door, just as I hoped it would.I gave 4 stars because I cannot vouch for its longevity - I just installed it 2 days ago. If you are on the fence, I can say that this is a quality product that does not feel or look cheaply made.

Our camper had cheaply made plastic storage door retainers and one had the 'paper clip' style wire fall out of the spring and the rest fell apart. I saw that these were metal so knowing I needed to replace the one, I ordered 2 sets so I would have enough to replace all four on our camper. There are 3 pre-drilled holes in each and lucky for me, two of them matched to the holes from my previous latches so replacement was quick and simple with the supplied screws. I put a squirt of silicone in the previous holes and behind each clamp to keep water from seeping behind and into each hole. Work better than factory and very pleased with the heavy quality.

I bought these because I was tired of replacing the cheap plastic ones that only last one season. Note these come 2 per pack it is in the fine print but like me you might miss that point. This is such a bargain for the price, and they are solid like a rock not cheap stamped out metal the arm is solid stainless steel. Another Note, the holes are different then the ones on the plastic ones that came on my trailer so I had to drill one hole in my trailer but since these are made so well I doubt I will ever have to replace them. I recommend these to anyone who are tired of the cheap plastic ones.

We replaced our brittle plastic with these stainless for our outside baggage compartments and will not need to do this again any time soon. The pre-drilled holes did not line up with current holes, however, instead of putting more holes in the camper, we drilled different holes in the catch base itself - and yes, make sure you use caulk to seal the holes. These look very solid compared to the prior plastic. We like them so well, we ordered another set to use on the inside cabinets where the doors open UP - to hold them open while we are digging around - they look much better than other alternatives (white/plastic) and a better alternative to some inside cabinet options which would restrict the use in the cabinet because of the hardware sticking into the cabinet when the door was closed.

I installed this to replace a cheap plastic RV Storage door holder. The total replacement time for both pieces was about 5 minutes and I did not have to drill any new holes in my RV - It looks great, seems to be a quality piece and it is working great - I was concerned that the stainless might not be the right replacement for my original white plastic that came with the RV but they actually look very nice and add a quality look to the unit - would recommend these - thumbs up !

I have a 1998 motorhome and the stock plastic baggage door clips became brittle and started cracking off one-by-one. I decided that I wanted something more durable and this is it. I bought a few extras just to have as spares, but probably shouldn't have since these will last a lifetime. They come two per package and also come with four stainless steel screws, which is nice. You'll probably need to get some wall anchors to fasten these to the side of the RV. In order for me to get the old plastic baggage door clips off, I had to drill out some rivets which made the hole in the RV wall larger than the stainless steel screw. I laid a bead of silicone caulk underneath the new stainless clips before I screwed them on. These should provide me with a lifetime of use and the caulk underneath has now made them anchored in a waterproof manner. They look really sharp on the side of my RV. Much nicer than any plastic ones out there.
