Short version:Item not as pictured, and the design of the one received is less optimized than the one advertised, and does not feature a power control switch, making it dangerous.Long version:The one I received came with a battery pack that lacks an “on/off†switch, unlike the one pictured in the product description. Unfortunately, without a power switch this cutter is clunky and even dangerous, as you must unclamp the positive wire from the heated wire in order to turn it off.Furthermore, the battery pack only nests in a hole on the top frame, and isn’t secured to anything at all, making it cumbersome unless you engineer a means to temporarily secure it.Final complaint is that the wood is warped, but thats to be expected given how thin the boards are.If not comparing to the one advertised, it at least does its job and cuts foam. It was relatively easy to assemble despite only having Chinese instructions; though small, the illustrations were clear.Overall, the quality control of this product is disappointing, and I don’t understand why I received a downgraded product compared to the one advertised.

Not sure why all these comments on how hard it is to put together. You can tell these people have never put a Lego set together. Follow the pictures and you will be fine. (Screws go through wood and into Nylon spacers, spacers go between wood, short spacers [3] for arm, medium spacer [1] for arm to base, long spacers [4] for base.) Wires are plenty long enough if you put the battery box in the right spot (Again, in the pictures) As far as function, it works a treat on XPS foam and I would highly recommend this to someone who wants to start foam cutting as it is small and fits on a desk.

I took a risk purchasing it because it was so cheap. It's needs to be assembled from many small flimsy parts, and assessing the strength of these as fragile, and some were broken, I put it straight into the trash bin.

While we were able to use Google Translate and take a picture of the directions to get the English text, the end result was impossible to match what is shown in the instructions.There is no way to feed an alligator clip from the battery box all the way around and up the arm to clip to the top of the hot wire. No wire gauge is indicated, so paying more to get the correct size and splice in a longer wire is also not possible. Product would otherwise be sturdy for very small scale model diorama projects.

This thing comes made out of balsa wood that is laxer cut. It has a wire you attach two “alligator†clips to that attach to some batteries to heat up (AA battery) ad you need to pop the parts out of the sheets of woo and assemble. The instructions have pictures, but are entirely in Chinese! Not Chinese bad translation, But 100% Chinese! This may (not sure I’m going to keep it) cut or burn stuff, but I assume it will take a while to heat up… the assembly instructions may or man not show you how to put it together.
