Way too expensive. Other places has it for 13 bucks for 40 pounds. Don't waste your money unless you don't have a choice

I tried using this stuff in a 15" gauge/ 5" scale locomotive that normally gets fired on wood due to no local sources for coal.It lit okay being tossed on top of a robust wood fire, but made a heavy tan smoke with prominent sulfur smell even with a significant draft. It made heat really well for about two miles, then keeping up with heat became a problem.Cleaning the tubes, grates, and firebox the next morning it was observed that some component of this coal had glassed over in large saucer sized flat clinkers and blocked airflow, and had significantly choked the boiler tubes.Another engine fired on coal at the same meet had a different source of coal and didn't have similar problems. They went through their coal in the 1st day, and tried mine the next day and had the same problems I had. We gave the remainder to some who smiths as a hobby.Probably fine for forging, but I wouldn't try to use this in any steam powered equipment like locomotives or steam launches. It just isnt clean enough.

It is as advertised 50lb of bituminous coal. It comes in two separate boxes, no brand name, no label other than the shipping info. It burns well and lasts pretty long. No complaints so far. Do keep in mind if you are not using to working with coal, it is useful to start a fire with wood or charcoal and then add the coal to fire once your charcoal starts putting off an orange glow. If you're using it for smithing add the coal to edges of the fire and pack it down along the edges, simply throwing it on top of the fire will create a huge amount of smoke.

This will be the ninth time I've bought them from this supplier. Perfect packaging and hasty delivery everytime. Forge weld easily with this product in both a side blast and bottom draft forge. Will continue to buy until unavailable.

Works great in my old coal and wood Home Comfort cook stove. I love not having to go get the coal miles away with my trailer. I just use a little to keep a fire going.

50# of coal came in a solid custom cut box so nothing slid around in the box. Inside were two tough, sealed 25# bags. That made it east to move. Easy to open bags that you can use for storage near the stove. Burns well.

I must say I was a little worried when starting to use coal in my wood fireplace. I use about 1:10 ratio of coal to wood now and I'm amazed at the results. The heat output is amazing, and my chimney sweep tells me there's no evidence of any degradation from running coal in the amount I mention preciously. The coal itself arrived in a priority boxed USPS package. The coal was in a black trash bag inside the box with no apparent leaks or tears. I will purchase from this distributor again provided they still offer a competitive price and structural integrity of delivered goods. Pro tip, buy a set of rubber gloves to handle the coal, it will leave quite a bit of dust on the hands that handle it.
