Wide Mouth Jars --3.9inch
Wide-mouth jars are best for growing, feeding and maintaining sourdough starters. Over the lifetime of your starter, you will need to remove a lot of starter from the jar as well as add a lot of flour and water. If you have a narrow-mouthed jar, the small opening will make feeding and caring for your starter messier. A wide-mouth jar will ensure that you can easily add flour and water with much less spillage. It also makes it much easier to stir your starter (stirring is so important!!).
Starter Jar
The transparent glass jar has graduated markings of a centimeter ruler to help you determine your starter's rise throughout its fermentation.
Silicone Scraper
The silicone dough scraper can help flour and water stir well to combine, and scrape the flour and water mixture from the edges to the bottom.
Breathable Cloth Cover
Each time after "feeding" flour and water, please cover with an unbleached cloth cover.
Wood Lid
The wood lid allows for short-term and long-term storage. It seals the jar nicely.

I have been baking sourdough for about a year. Now that I feel confident in my starter/bread I am venturing to discard recipes. I loved that this came with 2 jars so I can keep an active starter but also have a good sized jar to keep discard in the fridge. The different covers allow for flexibility too. It also comes with a sticker thermometer which is helpful for beginners keeping track of the temperature. Definitely recommend!

I absolutely love this sourdough starter jar set! As someone newer to sourdough making, I’ve found these to be the perfect size for maintaining my starter. The set comes with everything you need, and having two jars is a huge plus—it makes it easy to switch when one gets too messy.The ounce scale, date-marked feeding band, and thermometer are great features that help keep track of the starter’s progress. Such a great product for any sourdough enthusiast, whether you’re just starting or experienced in the process!

These have become my go to jars for my sourdough starter - I love the wide mouth for more clean feedings and enjoy them being more aesthetically pleasing. They are very well made, and seem to be super high quality. Great value for the price and will buy more.

These jars are substantial, not cheaply manufactured or delicate. The package comes with 2 jar sets, each includes a wooden jar lid a glass jar that fits 35 ounces of sourdough starter, a peel off the thermometer to stick onto the side of the jar, an expandable cap and a medium size scraping spatula. Again, all good quality. I was hoping though, for washing instructions or instructions/recipe for starting a sourdough starter. Unfortunately that does not come with this kit- or at least it didn’t with mine. But for the money, it’s a good value.

Though this set is functional and pretty, the measuring lines come off in the dishwasher. And the cloth topper is not a natural fabric. It is too thick to allow proper airflow. Other than that, it is a good size and attractive set.

Nice looking glass containers but unable to open them...I don't know what machine tightened them but they have to find another way.

I cannot even begin to tell you just how many things are wrong with this set, but I’ll try. To start with, after the second wash the measuring lines on jars disappeared completely. The spatulas are so flimsy, they are hard to use for mixing a starter. The little fabric to cover the jar with does not breathe at all! (it's 100 per cent polyester). The "thermometer" is supposed to stick to the jar—didn't happen. And finally, the band that supposedly measures the starter stretched so badly after three or four uses that didn't stay on; it kept falling off. Please, do yourselves a favor, do not waste your money on this set.Tuesday, April 23, 2024I’m editing my review because I wanted to add that after reading my review, the seller contacted me. An apology was offered for the inconvenience, as well as a full refund—which was immediately applied to my account, and an implied promise that they will improve the quality of the product, or at least try.
