Very well made-it does take time to uncoil because of the hardness of the material, which is what makes it great! I LOVE IT!
Batteries don’t last long at all.

I ended up buying this product after going through several more expensive heavy duty mats that kept cracking and breaking on me.Compared to the heavy duty options out there, this carpet mat is soft, so less prone to cracking. But in itself it's insufficient. Due to the softness, the chair wheels will sink. So, I also bought an additional _hard_floor_ mat of similar dimensions and put it on top of this carpet mat. I went with .I've attached the two together with several pieces of double sided tape, around the perimeter of the mats. I used . I imagine any similar product will do.Now I have this system:* Together, these two softer mats provide enough firmness on the carpet. I get a little bit of wheel sinking, but not too bad. Tolerable. The wheels roll out of those small depressions easily.* The softer hard floor mat on the top absorbs and dissipates the pressure from the chair wheels, and protects the firmer carpet mat from cracking.* The tape holds the two together, and prevents the top one from curling, slipping and sliding. The top mat will do all that if you don't attach it with the tape. Without the tape, it's a bit of a hazard. MUST USE THE TAPE.I have now gone 16 months without any cracks in the carpet mat.The mat did ship rolled. A few hours outside, on the hot pavement, under the SoCal sun, and it got flat by itself without any hard work on my part.

Not much to say it's a chair mat. Hard to rate durability cause these things usually crack after a few years. I can say this thing is rolled up tight and incredibly hard to unroll. It took me two days to unroll it and get to lay flat. It curls up on the edges but eventually it will be flat. Also be ready for it to smell for a few days, it does smell awful for a bit.

I had a office chair mat that lasted over 5 years, and finally developed a crack, then continued to crack, so I had to look for a new chair mat. I found this "heavy duty carpets" office chair mat on Amazon and looked forward to receiving it. When I received the package I knew something was wrong. The chair mat came rolled in a small box. Rolled chair mats DO NOT work on carpet, because they are flimsy, and the office chair sinks into the mat, causes dents in the mat, and the chair refuses to roll. I hoped for the best, opened the package, rolled out the chair mat, sat on the chair mat because it kept rolling back up, struggled to continue to roll out the chair mat over and over trying to keep it flat. Finally I was able to somewhat get it flat, so I could put my office chair on it. I sat on my chair and immediately sank because the flimsy chair mat couldn't hold up on the soft carpet...even though the product description said it could. This is such a waste of money. I doesn't work on any type of carpet. I can't see it working well on hardwood either because of the raised carpet grips on the back side. What a waste of money!

UPDATE:I finally gave up on this chair mat. Even with a professional heat gun, heating it up then weighing it down on the floor, it returns to a rolled position if taken off the floor and curls at the edges when on the floor after it cools. I don't know how they managed to convince this mat that its natural state is "curled up in a useless roll" but that's how it is. I ended up filing for a return/refund on Amazon. DO NOT recommend buying this item.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Don't make the mistake I did and think that you don't need to check reviews for something as simple as a chair mat. Apparently, it's completely possible for a company to mess up such a basic product! It has a bit of a smell, though that seemed to go away after laying it out in the sun for a few hours, but that's not the real problem. It came so tightly rolled that it required the help of another person just to unbox the thing and ATTEMPT to lay it flat. But it will not lay flat, no matter what I do. Heat? Nope. Pressure? As soon as that's removed, it rolls back up again. It also isn't particularly secure on the carpeting, because the little pegs on the bottom are short and rounded - they don't GRIP the carpeting.Right now, I'm holding it down with some heavy items on all the edges, hoping to train this thing to stop rolling, but I highly doubt that'll work. If it doesn't, I might have to return this failure of a mat. Otherwise, I might relegate it to the hard floor in the workshop. It isn't useful for carpet, which I bought it for. HIGHLY disappointed.

This mat is so soft (or thin) that chair wheels make dents into the carpet below (ours is Berber so not deep). The chair won't roll when sitting on it because of this. The dents do not recover quickly which makes me question durability. The price is good but this may be one of those situations where you get what you pay for. Finally, because the mat has to be rolled up to fit in the shipping tube, it will not lay flat for a long time, even with weights on the corners. Of course, this would likely be true of any mat that is shipped.
