Machine came with 3 different plate sets. Each set contains two plates of the same profile. One set is for large hotdogs, another for sandwiches and a third one with a grid pattern is certainly for waffle making. Plates are very easy to remove and replace. They are locked by two latches. Dual color indicator displays current heating and power states. Handle has a plastic latch to keep the device firmly closed. This morning I made a panini sandwich. It tasted much better than the sandwiches I made before using toasted bread.

The maker is on and heating whenever it is plugged in. That is inconvenient.Forget making waffles. Even after five minutes they are barely brown and the long cooking time makes them tough. They are also rather small. The grill plates do a nice job with sausage patties and hamburgers (small ones, anyway). It's important that the meat is thick enough to touch both sides; for sausage, I found that 5/8" thick is ideal. Just lay them on the grill, close the lid, plug it in and wait ten minutes. It does a very good job of extracting the fat from the patties. That does present a problem in getting rid of the grease; if you try to pour it off at a corner some dribbles down the side. I was able to use tongs to carefully lift the grill plate after releasing it and dump off the fat.I have no use for the glass top, although it looks nice. The construction is good and seems sturdy enough. Exterior surfaces wipe clean easily and the non-stick cooking surfaces work well.

I know some other people have had issues with the griddle not getting hot enough, but that has NOT been the case with the unit I received. Overall I really like it. The plates are interchangeable and very non-stick. They are extremely easy to clean off as well. I mainly use the panini press, as long as you let it warm up prior to putting the sandwich in it gets hot enough to sizzle. I do spray with avocado oil to ensure there's a good fry. The first use omits the chemical smell, as it states in the instructions. It did take a couple uses for this to go away, but had no impact on the taste of the food. I like that the handle locks down to get an even crisp on both sides. It's a nifty little press for the price, I recommend giving it a shot.

This smash sandwich and waffle grill is a great multipurpose cooking device, suitable for various dishes. For example, I made two grilled-cheese sandwiches with the device, and they came out very well and ideal - nice and crisp, with lots of melty cheese. This product can also be used for making waffles, which I haven’t tried out yet, but the included molds allow for cooking a waffle-shaped dish, from batter, quite easily. Just pour the batter in, and let it cook. This is a good, versatile device, and I recommend it for its good design and functionality. It really is the ideal way to cook certain dishes, and having freshly homemade waffles is a delight.

I was totally underwhelmed with this item. As I was unpacking the waffle/sandwich maker, I found broken plastic pieces inside the bag with the waffle maker. There were four pieces broken off the bottom of the appliance leaving the bottom of the hot plate exposed. The grill plates are thinner than I expected but do seem to be coated. There was no recipe book so we just used our normal waffle recipe. Again, no instructions to let you know when the item is heated to temperature. After heating the plates for about 3 minutes, we added waffle mix. We checked the waffles after 5 minutes (barely cooked), at 10 minutes (slightly more cooked but still gummy) and at 15 minutes (the last picture-barely browned and the inside was very moist. I'm not willing to wait 15 or more minutes for waffles that cook nicely in my other waffle maker in 2-3 minutes. I didn't even try the other plates. I assume the waffle/sandwich maker just doesn't have enough heat to cook quickly. I would not recommend this product.

So I bought this so I could make my kids waffles in the morning before school quick and easy and I also wanted the grill plates for Panini sandwiches. I tried out all of the different plates.Waffles- Works well…uneven heating but gets the job done you have to leave it in for a longer amount of time if you want crispy waffles overall makes waffles so can’t complain doesn’t stick either.Grill- will heat up whatever you’re making but doesn’t make it crisp just warm. I used different types of food but I haven’t tried actual meat yet.. I also tried leaving in for a longer amount of time about 15 mins just to see if it would be crispy.Triangular sandwich- Made a grilled cheese cooked the cheese through and sealed the sandwich in the middle which is kind of cool. Doesn’t make crisp though makes the bread kind of mushy but edges are crisp.I’ll keep playing with it and trying different foods and update! Overall it gets the job done, if you have older kids that want to make their own food but aren’t comfortable with them working the stove this would be a good product!
