Ideal as a latch for doors or gates or as a small tool holder.

I used these in a non conventional way to help hold a pair of electric gate arms/gates in the open position to help battle high winds affecting the gate arms malfunctioning. These magnets (the way I installed them) definitely helped, so much that I had to mathematically decrease each magnets footprint a little at a time to achieve a “lighter weight per pound†force hold. was very pleased with these!

I noticed that the springs to my attic ladder were weakening leaving the door hanging down a bit. Probably not the best thing from an AC or heating point of view. I could have replaced the springs but instead I installed these two magnet closures and they worked quite well. It now takes a bit more pull strength to overcome the magnets to lower the stairs but certainly not at all too hard to open. Pictures attached. Took about 30 minutes to install.

I use the magnets to hold very large log gates open, they do the job even in the strongest wind.

I bought two of these for my patio screen door as the latch broke and the cats could open the door so I figured with a magnet you could open it from either side with it "locked" They arrived in the mail and after opening the package I could barely get the plate off the magnet. It was at this point I figured I might only need one! I put one on the door right by the latch and needless to say the cats couldn't open it but no one else in the family could open it also because it was so strong! I have 3 layers of electrical tape over the magnet and it takes a bit of a pull for my 17 year old to open it but at least it's more convenient then a latch that only opens on one side!

Hello,I was looking for a way to conveniently open and close my attic stair door so that it stayed closed and sealed. I thought to use a magnet and I "googled" magnets. This was one of the magnets that came up. The reviews seemed good enough and it seemed to fit the application.I can honestly say it worked much better than expected once I figured out the measurements for the proper mounting location.I highly recommend this product. Also, the entire ordering and shipping process was exceptional as all my Amazon orders are.

These magets are FANTASTIC !!!I tried locating them locally @ H.H & H. Depot with no luck ( for an easy return if necessary). So i ordered 2 pair to dodge shipping charges . Very glad I did because they performed above expectations! The 50 lb gripping power is perfect to hold a gate closed ( chain link or similar ) or for a variety of other uses I've already thought of and put into practice . In fact I've contacted my local retailer and suggested she start stocking them . Especially as I plan on using a few more around my home / garage !I can only imagine the multitude of uses if I upgrade to the 100 lb model !Great job Master Magnets !** Tip... use " Chicago Screws" if you need the striker plate to flush mounted .**

These magnets are super strong and will keep your doors closed. But, if a child uses the door, it will be very difficult for them to open it. I bought these for an accordion door in my house to keep my cat from opening it. I didn't even bother installing them because I knew my kids wouldn't be able to open it.

50lbs... of magnetic force. They are about 3" x 1".. Tough, I used them for two of my doors, the basement and attic. Depending on how you place them, it will make opening the doors easier or hard. If you place it vertically, you'll have to pull the door really hard to open it. If you place it horizontally you can change the amount of force required to open the door depending on how far you get from the hinges.

We have a dutch style half screen door on our kitchen to keep the cats out of the kitchen. We wanted to get a magnet to keep it closed but easy enough to nudge open easily. The description said gate magnet. And I now think it must be for a cattle gate!! These are so powerful we could NOT even pull them apart! We improvised by putting 5 layers of Duct tape over one half and now it reduces the strength. I suppose you could also mount them so only the bottom quarter of the metal strip catches onto the other side. For a heavy duty gate this would definitely work! But for a small light-weight gate, you need to dumb it down a bit....but I would rather have that problem than getting one that is so weak it doesn't grab. Plus the price was right.
