I had one for years and worked great, no issues at all. I finally had to replace. Shortly after, a family of thieves wearing masks went on a robbery spree. I tried a bungee cord first, but they still accessed through the feeding tube. The picture you see with the tube beside the unit wasn’t placed there by me, but them. Obviously demonstrating their skills and challenging me to do better. I finally cut a piece of plywood, got a planter large enough and secured it with two small metal angles and clevis pins allowing me to remove when needed. I cut a small area near the feeding tube and installed chicken wire so they couldn’t remove the tube. The little rascals were outsmarted and moved on. So far…so good.

Product did exactly what it was supposed to. Our pond is very small, 4 feet deep and 6 feet in length, 4 koi,6 goldfish and a pleco. My fish were fed every single day on time for the whole eight days we were gone. I forgot to take pictures but I did exactly what other reviewers said to do which was to bungie cord it to a board or in place somehow and cover it with a bucket. Good thing I did because our security cameras caught a possum visiting the pond one night. I don't know if it's possible but I think the possum stole a pleco out of my pond. I haven't seen it since we left for vacation. We set it up a couple of days before vacation to make sure it would do its thing. I highly recommend this product.

This thing is poor quality right out of the box... The body and nozzle are constructed of cheap, tinny, plastic. You can feel the cheesy quality of the push buttons right through the layer of plastic covering them, and function is hit or miss. Battery (4 C type batteries NOT included) installation is a pain, and you have to try to hold them all in while trying to replace the battery compartment cover as quickly as possible, otherwise they will spring back out.Programming instructions were straightforward enough, but since the push buttons don't function as they should, it takes multiple tries to make programming selections.I tested this thing on our kitchen table (perfectly level surface) with a dish under the nozzle. The instructions state that setting "1", for the smallest amount of food, will deliver about a tablespoon of food. Well, the first test dumped out about 2 cups of food! The next test about 1/2 cup...each attempt kept delivering inconsistent amounts of food. It was simply ridiculous. The food delivery mechanism is a cheap wire corkscrew, and not a proper auger. So this, combined with the inconsistent motor timing, causes the inconsistent food delivery amounts. Likewise, there is nothing to prevent food from continually dribbling out of the nozzle with the slightest bump or breeze. And to that point, there is nothing to prevent small rodents, or even birds, from accessing the food via the nozzle.I can't understand how this thing even got one decent review. Total waste of time and money (I had to pay the $7.99 return fee, and invested in the C type batteries that I'll never be able to use in anything else.)

This automatic feeder worked well for my small 4' x 8' pond. I have about 20 Shubunkin goldfish in this pond and it has always been a problem finding someone to feed the fish when we are away for an extended period of time. Overall, this feeder seems to be well built and worked as advertised. It was easy to setup and to get programed for the feeding schedule I chose. I watched it for about a week before we left on vacation and it dispensed the fish food right on time with no problems. As other people have said it probably should be mounted on a board, which it is setup to do, because it is fairly light and could be blown over in wind or knocked over by pets. I set a brick on top of it and it stayed in place fine with the extra weight. Other people have said that the latches for the lid will break off over time and I agree that will probably happen because of the way they are constructed, but I don't think that is much of a problem because a weight like the brick I used will easily hold the lid on if the latches should break. Overall I am very happy with this feeder and it solved the problem of feeding our fish when we are away.

I purchased this to feed my turtles while I am away for more than 3-4 days. I also have a small Eheim auto feeder for short durations away, but I needed something that could feed them for at least 2 weeks and this would likely last a couple months or more with the large hopper bin! Originally intended for winter use only as I house the turtles in the basement in winter and they go outdoors for summer, but this will be ideal outdoors as well.I am guessing as I haven't measured specifically but I'd say it holds about 2 gallon sized pails of food. That is the equivalent of 2 of the Reptomin 2 lb size of food pellets for turtles, which I also buy on Amazon. It was easy to install, assemble and set up, instructions no problem to follow were clear and simple. Setting meal times was easy to accomplish, with the ability to set 3 feedings per day. The trick is to get the meal SIZE correct. I initially only went through the procedure once but after a week realized it was feeding far more than required so I re-did it this time using a lower setting. I think the problem was that initially the auger isn't full so first result was skewed as the auger remains full after it starts so would of course release more food as a result. I recommend going through the meal size setup up to 5 times to get it accurate. Also has manual feed and an off setting, nice.I have had this for a few months and it works flawlessly. Only drawback is battery changes - instructions say must be changed within 60 seconds or all settings are lost. That might be a challenge to do in 60 seconds...haven't had to yet so we'll see!The feeder must be secured, in my case because it was in the basement and would be undisturbed by weather or wildlife outdoors I didn't think it was necessary until I realized any movement can cause food to fall out of the chute as the chute & auger remain full at all times. My turtles are quite active so bumping up against the sides of their tub or jumping off the basking dock caused enough movement to release food they didn't need. I zip-strapped it securely and tightly to a shelf across the top of the tub to prevent movement.Very happy with this purchase, very versatile and inexpensive compared to others I looked at.

I purchased this automatic pond fish feeder to cater for my Koi etc whilst away on holiday. It came with adequate instructions to suit my needs although it took a little getting used to at first but once mastered the digital settings are fairly easy really. Assembly was simple and the the feeder sits neatly on the pond edge and the food is delivered into the pond via the spout. The food hopper is large and would easily cater for a week or more away. There are 3 daily food settings which you can set to suit your own needs, either once, twice or three times a day at times set by you. You can also set the amount of food delivered on each occasion. These are set up by an incremental number scale. Do not make the mistake of assuming as I did that these numbers equate to a second each, they are some kind of unit. Test the feeder out on a bench first so the food is delivered into a tray and weigh it. 5 units equates to about 17g and 10 units equates to about 33g. The measurements over a period of time are fairly accurate. Once tested and set up you are good to go and set it on the pond edge. All in all the product looks to be well made and does exactly what I asked it to do, feed my fish regularly whilst absent. I am pleased with what I have seen so far and have only not given it five stars as I want to test its reliability over an extended period and its claimed waterproof abilities. I will report back at a later date on this aspect.Edit - after a prolonged soaking in heavy rain this morning it seems to have passed its waterproof test. The food in the hopper remained bone dry and all is working well.Further update - I have has this running for about 3-4 weeks now and it delivers the right amount of food right on time every time. The clock seems to be very accurate so does the amount of food delivered. Really pleased with this product, it does exactly what is claimed. Excellent, upgraded to 5 stars.Update 18/08/19 - Still working fine. It delivers the right amount of food on time every day. I should just add that I use Tetra Pond Variety Sticks and these do NOT jam the mechanism or become moist and block the spout.Further update (22/10/2020 - still going strong and delivers the right amount of food at the right time.

I bought this product about 3 months ago. I too, had trouble with the programming. When I finally got the right person on the phone, the programming was perfect. The problem was: the manual was different from the verbal instructions I received on the phone. Now that that is taken care of, I was reading reviews that mentioned that the unit did not work well in high humidity or rainy days. The food would clog up and the company said it was not waterproof. So I put my talented husband to the task to fix this problem before we even installed it permanently. He used materials he had at home and created a beautiful cover for the unit. Within one week of installing the unit and cover, we had about 4 days of heavy rain with a lot of wind. Nothing clogged up and the unit worked perfectly. Since that time, we have had several high humidity days and also more rainy days. We live in Texas and it can be very hot and dry for several days. No matter what the weather, this unit with the "weatherproof" cover has worked perfectly. I put enough pellets in the feeder for 1 month (this last time for 2 months), and I have not had one single problem yet.The materials he used: A five gallon paint bucket (from any hardware store), a post that was cemented in the ground on the outside of the pond wall, a metal flat holder that previously was used to hold an old satellite dish unit to a roof, and a few screws. He put air holes in the upside down bucket as well as a cut out for the feed spout and screwed it to the holder which was screwed to the post. He then painted the entire bucket, etc. It looks beautiful and can easily be removed to add more feed.
