I made a set of stones as gifts for Christmas and 98% of them were perfectly smooth. They made a great canvas for acrylic paint and paint pens and took the paint really well.

These are the perfect size for painting rocks, but be forewarned, they come in different sizes. Some are very small. I missed that before buying them. Not all of them will be useful. Still, they were definitely worth it.
